  • If you select the CIN-based view, enter details from the counterfoil challan such as BSR code of the collecting branch, challan tender date, challan serial number, amount, etc.



  • If you select the TAN-based view, enter your TAN number and the period during which the challan was generated.



  • Enter the captcha code and click on view. All the details relating to challan will be displayed on the screen.



  • You can download or print the challan details for your reference.

Pay TDS Challan through NEFT/RTGS or Payment Gateway




If you do not have net banking facility, you can also pay TDS Challan online through NEFT/RTGS or Payment Gateway. To do so, you need to generate an online challan through . TRACES stands for TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System. It is a web-based application that enables deductors to view and correct their TDS statements online. To generate an online challan through TRACES, the following steps can be followed:


  • Visit



  • Login with your user ID and password



  • Go to Statements/Payments tab and click on Request for Online Correction



  • Select the relevant financial year, quarter, form type, and category of correction (challan correction or PAN correction)



  • Click on Proceed and verify the details of the statement



  • Select the challan(s) that need correction and click on Submit for Processing



  • A token number will be generated for your request. You can track the status of your request using this token number.



  • Once your request is processed, you can download the online challan from the Downloads tab.



  • You can use this online challan to make payment through NEFT/RTGS or Payment Gateway.

How to get credit for TDS deducted?




To get credit for TDS deducted, the deductee has to furnish the following details in his/her income tax return:

  • TDS certificate or Form 16/16A issued by the deductor



  • TDS challan details such as CIN, amount, date, etc.



  • TDS amount claimed as credit

What are the consequences of non-payment or late payment of TDS?




If a deductor fails to pay or delays the payment of TDS to the government account, he/she may face the following consequences:



  • Interest at 1.5% per month or part thereof on the amount of TDS from the due date to the date of payment.



  • Penalty equal to the amount of TDS under section 271C of the Income Tax Act.



  • Prosecution under section 276B of the Income Tax Act with imprisonment ranging from 3 months to 7 years and fine.



  • Late filing fee of Rs. 200 per day under section 234E of the Income Tax Act for delay in filing TDS statement.



  • Penalty ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1 lakh under section 271H of the Income Tax Act for late filing or incorrect filing of TDS statement.



  • No deduction for expenses under section 40(a)(ia) of the Income Tax Act if TDS is not paid within the specified time limit.



  • No credit for TDS deducted to the deductee if TDS statement is not filed by the deductor.
